When you consider the claims of Christianity to a unique revelation of God in Christ as in Acts 4:12, “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved” I find the following explanation of Emil Brunner to be helpful.
“To the point, why God has elected Israel out of all people as his people, why the Son of God has become man in the years 1 to 30 in Palestine and not long before in China or India, and in all times and at once, we can add, why has God made this world and not another one? Why has he made large and small beasts, large and small stars? Why has he created innumerable non-rational creatures and only so few rational ones? To all these questions we shall have no answer in this life, but they cannot be seriously put by anyone who bends himself before the majesty and omnipotence of God the Creator. We do not live with God in a democracy of heaven and earth. In a democracy any citizen can at any time require and account from the government of what it does. We are not living, however in a democracy in this world, but in an absolute monarchy, and between God and ourselves there is no other equality but that which was his free gift, which he bestows on us as his image. Democracy is a good thing to order human relations, but the idea of equality which is basic to it cannot be applied to the relation between God and man, so as to call to account God the Creator as one calls to account the president or prime minister. The end of true reverence is the end of true religion.”
